Why is Vitamin K2-MK4 the best form of vitamin K supplement?
Dr. Westin A Price wasn't sure the compound he was studying was a vitamin and named it Activator X and also referred to it as the X-Factor. What he realized back then was that this nutrient helped other nutrients achieve a higher absorption rate, especially Vitamin D. Years later, scientists renamed it Vitamin K2 MK4.
Vitamin K2-MK4 is the best form of Vitamin K because the other forms, including Vitamin K1 and Vitamin K2-MK7, cannot be used by our bodies before they are converted to vitamin K2-MK4. And, unfortunately, a good portion of these forms never get converted for use. The health of our gut microbiomes plays an important role in the conversion rates. Only about 20% of K1 gets absorbed in the best case scenarios! Its conversion rate is rather low at only 5 to 25% getting converted!
